Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding.
Proverbs 9:6
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you wished you wouldn't have made a choice as the one you made? Because the consequences have just been bad. I think we all find ourselves there at one point in our lifetime. Making decisions out of our own understanding.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight Prov. 3:5-6
I have always struggled with this: How do I know which decision is the right one? This is a dilemma many find themselves in. Fear to make a wrong decision will cripple us to make any decision and nothing gets done.
I was crippled with fear for a very long time to make certain decisions. It just shows us how little wisdom we have. Yes, intelligence is found often with people but wisdom is a whole other thing. God's wisdom will keep us from making wrong decisions. God's wisdom will keep us from the lesser and steer us to the greater He has for us. Wisdom will keep us from unwanted consequences.
When we trust in God's wisdom, He will always keep us safe.
Even if we make wrong choices, as long as we then look to His wisdom again, His grace will lead us back to the right path. Repent and move on.
Here now, a little more about my experience in this matter. Just recently, I had to make a decision on a move, I perceived to be God's will. Well, I had been looking for places to live and it wasn't easy to find something. After looking at one particular house, it did fit most of my requirements and I was thinking this will do, and proceeding with the steps to obtain a new home, I grew more and more uneasy about several things regarding this home. The third day after, it became clear to me that something wasn't right. So I literally got on my knees and prayed. I asked God to reveal what was going on. And was ready to confess my mistake. He showed me this home was not His plan for me. In the meantime, I had already made plans in my mind for this home. It may just be the timing that is off.
In the past, He spoke often to me about being in peace when making decisions. If there is no peace about a certain decision, it should not be made. This was one of those moments where I did not have peace about this home any longer. It did not mean that there was something wrong with this home. It just meant it was wrong for me!
Here is the problem: When we hurry into making decisions, we forfeit time for God to show us YES or NO toward the item/way. We have to step back and release whatever it is we are getting ready to decide on, giving it to God first! Even if we feel it is His will for us.
This hymn comes to my mind again: "....we forfeit peace if we do not give everything to God in prayer." It's true.
The reason, especially if we feel it is His will, is that satan will try to lead us in the wrong direction. And even our own desires can lead us astray and sabotage God's plan.
To know for sure if God is leading us: Let the peace of God be our guide. This is what He has been showing me a long time ago and it has always worked. As well as all will fall into place. All provision will be on time and ready. It will not be a struggle as we struggle on our own. It will be as God has planned it for us.
The first scripture of today is taking about foolishness.....it is the main problem of the human heart. God's plans for us are to give us safety in Him, not become fools. Yes, I said it: not to become fools. I know what I am taking about my friend (laughing out loud) .
Anyway, I am leaving you today with this prayer: Lord help us not to be foolish and give us Your wisdom in any path and decision we take and make. Help us to be bold in denying our own understanding and the plans of the enemy. AMEN
Tschuess and good bye .......
