Thankful
This one is an easy one: "unthankful is the opposite. Sometimes, it is not easy to find the opposite word of something.
giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God. Ephes. 5:20
This part of scripture refers to walking in wisdom. So it is wise, giving thanks. Especially in a biblical way.
"How a dose of Gratitude can keep you healthy longer. Studies have shown that people who regularly practice feeling thankful have a leg up when it comes to their health. Robert Emmons, a psychology professor at the University of California at Davis, has been a leading researcher in this growing field, termed “positive psychology.” His research has found that those who adopt an “attitude of gratitude” as a permanent state of mind experience many health benefits."
We have all encountered people who are not thankful for what we give them or do for them. But we do not need to worry about that.
And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. Luke 6:31
It is meant for us to be responsible for ourselves and not for others. What they do or don't do really does not effect us as much as we think. Many times in earlier blogs, have I mentioned how God has our back and how He takes care of us. Especially when others hurt us or mistreat us. He is our source to not want
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
I do understand that many are under the impression to hold others responsible for evil doing and in the eyes of a court this is true. But we as individuals are not to hold the gavel over them. I must release this person to God and be free from bitterness and unforgiveness.
Back to thankfulness.
We all have come across those who are displaying thankfulness and it is always a delight to be in their presence. When we practice thankfulness......yes we have to practice it......we tend to see the nicer side of life and are focused on the good rather than the bad.
Thankfulness is not something that comes natural, it has to be practiced. One has to choose to be thankful.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15
Be thankful: it is an action word. It is a word that has to be displayed as a deed, manifested.
There is always something to be thankful for, even something small. We must decide to find something on a daily basis in order to make it a good habit. Often we hear, it takes 21 days to change bad habits or create a good habit. We have to start somewhere, so let's start at day one.
My prayer today: Lord help us, Holy Spirit empower us to change bad habits and create good habits of thankfulness. Father, You are a perfect giver of gifts to us and let us be thankful for that, daily.
Blessings and peace to you. Until next time, good bye and farewell.
